Kismayo — Somali Danab commandos, Jubbaland regional forces, and international partners conducted a planned military operation in Maqooqaha village, approximately 13 kilometers west of Buulo Xaaji in Lower Jubba region.
The operation targeted hideouts used by Al-Shabaab militants. According to official reports, more than 37 Al-Shabaab fighters, including several senior commanders, were killed.
Officials leading the operation stated that the identities of the slain commanders will be released soon.
A statement from Jubbaland security officials said:
“This operation demonstrates the unwavering commitment of Somali Danab forces and the Jubbaland administration to eliminate Al-Shabaab terrorists from areas where they attempt to hide.
The ongoing operations by Jubbaland forces, supported by Danab commandos and international allies, are significantly degrading the militants’ capabilities and strengthening the overall security of Jubbaland’s territories.”
