Bosaso, Somalia – Soldiers from the Puntland forces who were wounded during the Al-Miskad operation against ISIS have voiced serious concerns over inadequate medical care. They also accused the Puntland Support Committee of misappropriating funds contributed by the people of Puntland for the benefit of the troops.

“We have received no assistance. We are at Bosaso General Hospital, but the government has provided no medical support. The funds raised from the people of Puntland have been misused by a self-serving committee that has shown us no compassion,” said one of the injured soldiers.

“We are members of the Puntland Darawiish forces who were wounded in the fight against ISIS. We are raising our voices because we have not received the medical care that is our right. We call on the government to provide us with the healthcare we deserve,” added another soldier.

“When we were brought to Bosaso General Hospital, we were neglected and denied proper medical services. We have received no support from the government. We appeal to the authorities to deliver the medical care to which we are entitled,” said a third injured soldier.

Shortly after those soldiers raised their complai, Puntland President Said Abdullahi Deni has responded to the soldiers’ concerns. He ordered that the wounded troops who raised complaints in Bosaso be transferred to Garowe so their health, treatment, and other needs can be properly addressed.

A statement from the Al-Miskad operation confirmed that the troop support committee has already begun taking action to provide care for the injured soldier.
