TEHRAN/JERUSALEM/WASHINGTON — A set of sweeping conditions reportedly put forward by Donald Trump and accepted in principle by Iran has drawn intense international attention, as diplomatic efforts seek to curb escalating regional tensions.
According to sources familiar with the discussions, the proposals go well beyond a temporary ceasefire, aiming instead at a comprehensive and lasting settlement to hostilities.
At the core of the framework is a security guarantee for Iran, ensuring it would not face future military attacks. In return, Tehran is said to be pushing for a complete end to the conflict rather than a limited truce, underlining its demand for a durable peace agreement.
The proposals also address regional flashpoints, including a call to halt Israeli military operations in Lebanon, reflecting Iran’s broader effort to reduce confrontation involving its allies across the Middle East.
Economic measures form a key pillar of the plan, with Iran seeking the full lifting of U.S. sanctions. The framework also calls for an end to hostilities targeting Iran-aligned groups in the region.

However, Israel stressed that its support remains conditional, urging Iran to immediately reopen the Strait of Hormuz and ensure freedom of navigation.
