Mogadishu – A loud explosion heard across Mogadishu was caused by a military helicopter belonging to ATMIS that crashed near the Afisyooni tent area, close to the perimeter of Xalane in Mogadishu.

Preliminary reports indicate that there have been casualties, including deaths and injuries.

According to reports, the aircraft experienced a technical failure as it attempted an emergency landing. The helicopter ultimately caught fire, leading to its complete destruction.

Eyewitnesses told Risaala Media that the aircraft crashed at Mogadishu’s Aden Adde International Airport.

Following the crash, thick black smoke engulfed the airport, and emergency fire trucks are currently on the scene carrying out rescue efforts.

So far, the exact extent of the casualties from the crash at Aden Adde Airport remains unclear.

No official statements have yet been released by the management of Aden Adde Airport or the Somali government.

Efforts are ongoing to remove the wreckage of the aircraft from the crash site.
