MOGADISHU – Reports circulating in Somali political circles indicate that senior politician H.E. Abdirizak Omar Mohamed has been linked to the leadership of Hirshabelle State for the 2026–2031 term, although no official electoral confirmation has been publicly released by state institutions.

Abdirizak Omar Mohamed is a veteran Somali politician who has previously served in several senior federal government positions, including Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources, Minister of Internal Security, and Minister of Natural Resources in different administrations.

Hirshabelle State, one of Somalia’s federal member states, is currently led by President Ali Abdullahi Hussein (Ali Guudlaawe), who has been in office since 2020, according to official records.

The presidency of Hirshabelle is elected by the regional parliament, and no formal announcement has yet confirmed any change in leadership or succession arrangement for the upcoming term.

Political observers say discussions around future leadership positions in Somalia’s federal member states often emerge ahead of electoral cycles, but final decisions remain subject to parliamentary votes and official procedures.

Analysts caution that, until an official vote is held and declared, any claims regarding the 2026–2031 presidency should be treated as unconfirmed political speculation.
