MOGADISHU – With deep sorrow and in full acceptance of Allah’s will and decree, the Somali Platform announces the passing of its Editor-in-Chief, senior journalist Hassan Mohammed Hajj, who died today, 5 July 2026, after a distinguished media career dedicated to professionalism, credibility, and public service.
The late Hassan Mohammed Hajj was regarded as one of the key pillars of the platform. Throughout his career, he played a central role in promoting journalistic integrity, neutrality, and high editorial standards. His contributions left a lasting impact on his colleagues and the wider media community.
In a statement, the President of Somali Platform, Mr. Abdul Rashid Kalmoy, extended heartfelt condolences on behalf of the editorial board and staff to the family of the deceased, his relatives, colleagues in the media sector, and the platform’s audience.
He prayed that Allah Almighty grant the deceased mercy, admit him to His vast paradise, and give his family patience and strength during this difficult time.
“Indeed we belong to Allah, and indeed to Him we shall return.”
