JUBA — The Embassies of Canada, France, Germany, Japan, the Netherlands, Norway, Switzerland, the United Kingdom, and the United States, together with the European Union Delegation to South Sudan, have voiced serious concern over amendments to the 2018 Revitalized Peace Agreement approved by the Transitional National Legislative Assembly without the full consensus of all signatory parties.

In a joint statement, the diplomatic missions reaffirmed that the 2018 Revitalized Peace Agreement remains the cornerstone of the Transitional Government’s legitimacy and the primary framework for achieving lasting peace and stability in South Sudan.

The statement stressed that any changes to the agreement should be undertaken through genuine consultation and dialogue involving all signatories, in line with the spirit and provisions of the peace accord.

The missions also urged all parties to immediately cease hostilities, avoid actions that could escalate tensions, and recommit themselves to peaceful engagement and inclusive political dialogue.

They emphasized that preserving the integrity of the peace agreement is essential for maintaining stability, advancing the transition process, and meeting the aspirations of the South Sudanese people for peace and democratic governance.
