TRIPOLI — The Embassy of the Federal Republic of Somalia in Libya has stepped in to provide humanitarian assistance to a Somali woman who was reportedly living in extremely difficult conditions after suffering from a prolonged illness.

The woman was received at the Somali Embassy in Tripoli by Somalia’s Ambassador to Libya, Abdulfatah Sheikh Ahmed Abdulmanan, who listened to her personal account and learned about the challenges she had faced while living away from home.

Following the meeting, the ambassador directed embassy officials to provide immediate support, including access to medical assistance, humanitarian aid, and continued monitoring of her condition to ensure her safety, recovery, and overall well-being.

The embassy said the intervention reflects its ongoing responsibility to support Somali citizens in Libya who face difficult circumstances, including health emergencies, humanitarian challenges, and legal difficulties.

Libya hosts a significant number of Somali nationals, many of whom face complex challenges related to migration, employment, detention, and access to essential services. The Somali diplomatic mission said it remains committed to strengthening assistance programs and responding to urgent cases involving vulnerable citizens.

The embassy has also expanded its consular efforts to support Somali nationals held in Libyan detention facilities by providing legal and humanitarian assistance, following up on their cases, and working with relevant Libyan authorities to facilitate safe and dignified returns to Somalia whenever possible.

Officials said these efforts are part of a broader mission to protect the rights, dignity, and welfare of Somali citizens living in Libya, while strengthening cooperation with local institutions to address humanitarian and consular concerns.

The Somali Embassy emphasized that assisting vulnerable citizens abroad remains one of its key priorities as it continues to provide support services to the Somali community across Libya.
