MOGADISHU — The United States has expressed appreciation for continued law enforcement cooperation with the Federal Government of Somalia, describing the partnership as an important example of how international collaboration can strengthen security and support the rule of law.
In a statement, the US government said recent coordination between American and Somali authorities reflects the value of close cooperation built on mutual respect for each country’s legal systems, procedures, and national priorities.
The statement highlighted that effective partnerships between law enforcement institutions can help disrupt criminal networks, prevent individuals involved in illegal activities from finding safe havens, and improve security conditions for communities in both Somalia and the United States.
“Recent coordination demonstrates how close partnerships, grounded in respect for each country’s laws and practices, can enhance security, deny safe haven to criminals, and help keep Americans and Somali citizens safe,” the statement said.
US officials said they hope the cooperation will serve as a foundation for future joint efforts, emphasizing the importance of continued engagement between the two governments in addressing shared security challenges.
Somalia has in recent years worked to strengthen its security institutions and deepen cooperation with international partners as it continues efforts to combat terrorism, organized crime, and other threats affecting national and regional stability.
The United States remains one of Somalia’s key international security partners, supporting efforts aimed at improving law enforcement capacity, strengthening government institutions, and promoting long-term peace and stability.
