CAIRO – Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty and Sigrid Kaag, a member of the Gaza Executive Council, discussed efforts to maintain the Gaza ceasefire and expand humanitarian assistance during a phone call on Monday, Egypt’s Foreign Ministry said.
The talks focused on supporting the continuation of the ceasefire agreement, improving the delivery of humanitarian aid, and addressing the urgent needs of civilians in Gaza.
Abdelatty emphasized Egypt’s continued diplomatic efforts to prevent further escalation, facilitate humanitarian access, and support international initiatives aimed at stabilizing the situation in the Palestinian territory.
The Egyptian foreign minister and Kaag also reviewed mechanisms to increase the flow of relief supplies, including food, medical assistance, and essential services, as humanitarian organizations continue to face major challenges in reaching affected communities.
Egypt has played a central role in regional mediation efforts related to Gaza, working with international partners to support ceasefire arrangements and encourage political solutions to the conflict.
Kaag, who has been involved in international coordination efforts related to Gaza, discussed the importance of maintaining international cooperation and ensuring that humanitarian assistance reaches civilians in need.
The conversation comes amid continued international efforts to consolidate the ceasefire, support reconstruction plans, and seek a long-term framework for peace and stability in Gaza and the wider Middle East.
