NEW YORK — Somalia’s Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, H.E. Abdisalam Ali, held talks with Costa Rica’s Minister of Foreign Affairs and Worship, H.E. Manuel Tovar Rivera, on the sidelines of the 81st session of the United Nations General Assembly in New York.
The two ministers discussed ways to strengthen bilateral relations and expand cooperation in areas of mutual interest, particularly development and international partnerships.
The meeting reflects Somalia’s efforts to broaden its diplomatic engagement beyond traditional partners and strengthen relations with countries in Latin America.
The discussions also provided an opportunity for the two sides to explore areas where Somalia and Costa Rica can cooperate on development priorities and shared international interests.
The meeting took place as world leaders and senior government officials gathered in New York for the annual UN General Assembly, which provides a platform for countries to advance diplomatic relations and discuss issues of international importance.
Somalia has increasingly sought to expand its international partnerships and engage with a wider range of countries on development, diplomacy and cooperation.
The talks between Somalia and Costa Rica underscore the two countries’ interest in maintaining dialogue and exploring opportunities for closer bilateral cooperation.
