The Governor of Hiiraan Region, Mr. Muse Salad Weheliye, has received a consignment of support from the Somali Regional State of Ethiopia (also known as DDS), intended to bolster ongoing efforts against the militant group Al-Shabaab.

The official handover ceremony took place in the border town of Feerfeer, which lies between Ethiopia and Somalia. The aid was presented by Mr. Idiris Jibril, Deputy Head of the Security Office of the Somali Regional State, along with top officials including the Chief of Police of the region, Major General Abdi Ali Siyad, and Colonel Hassan, the head of military intelligence in Eastern Ethiopia. They were joined by senior security officer Colonel Abdirisak Mukhtar and other government representatives.

Governor Muse Salad, accompanied by senior commanders from the Somali Federal Government forces, officials from the Hirshabelle State administration, and other local authorities, expressed deep gratitude to the Ethiopian Somali Regional State for its timely assistance. He described the move as a commendable and inspiring gesture that reflects strong regional cooperation in the face of a tough and ongoing struggle against Al-Shabaab.
“This support demonstrates the importance of unity in the fight against terrorism. It’s a vital example that should be emulated by others,” Governor Muuse remarked during the event.
The assistance, which includes logistical and possibly military supplies, is part of a broader regional strategy aimed at strengthening security collaboration between the two neighboring administrations. The joint efforts are geared toward stabilizing areas affected by extremist violence and ensuring long-term peace in the region.
The governor emphasized that the people of Hiiraan are engaged in a critical resistance movement and will remember every hand that extends support during these trying times.
