Garowe  — The President of the Puntland Regional State of Somalia, Mr. Said Abdullahi Deni, has reaffirmed Puntland’s unwavering support for the statehood of Somalia, emphasizing the region’s consistent commitment to building a national governance system rooted in justice, fairness, and inclusivity.

Speaking during a visit to various communities across Puntland—where residents raised concerns about the lack of basic public services—President Deni addressed the region’s role in Somali politics and its stance on the federal system.

“We are not people who oppose the statehood of Somalia. What we are committed to is ensuring equality for Puntland,” President Deni stated.
“Regions that are far from main roads will no longer be neglected.”

His remarks come amid ongoing national debates over the structure and fairness of Somalia’s federal arrangement, as well as the distribution of services and resources among member states. Deni used the platform to reiterate Puntland’s historical role as a pioneer in rebuilding Somalia’s governance institutions following years of civil conflict and political fragmentation.

The president cautioned, however, that Somalia’s federal system must evolve to fairly represent all citizens, regardless of their geographic location. He stressed that centralized power or favoritism toward certain regions undermines the spirit of federalism and risks alienating parts of the population.

“Puntland has always been at the forefront of efforts to establish a functioning Somali state,” Deni noted.
“But a federal system can only succeed if it guarantees equal representation and services for all regions.”

President Deni concluded by declaring Puntland’s readiness to engage in genuine collaboration with federal institutions and other regional states to help build a stable, lawful government—one that serves its people without abuse of power or marginalization.

“We are ready to cooperate fully in building a Somali government that is peaceful, legitimate, and respects the rights of all,” he said.

President Deni’s statement highlights Puntland’s dual commitment to unity and equity, as the region continues to navigate its role within Somalia’s complex political framework.
