Mogadishu — In a significant move aimed at improving service delivery and strengthening institutional performance, the Governor of Banadir Region and Mayor of Mogadishu, Dr. Hassan Mohamed Hussein (Muungaab), has carried out a major reshuffle within his administration.
The shake-up includes the replacement of several department heads and the appointment of new officials to critical leadership positions. The changes, announced on Saturday, reflect the governor’s ongoing efforts to reform and revitalize local governance in the capital.
The new appointments are as follows:
- Mr. Abdirahman Ali Mohamed has been named Director General of the Education Directorate in Banadir Region. He takes over from Mr. Mohamed Yusuf Noor.
- Mr. Ahmed Abdusalan Osman has been appointed Director of the Technology and Logistics Department, replacing Mr. Yusuf Abdi Alasow.
- Mr. Abdirashid Mohamed Hussein has assumed the role of Director of the Tax Department in Mogadishu Municipality, succeeding Ms. Sowda Hussein Sudi.
- Mr. Nur Hussein Hassan has been appointed Director of the Markets Department in Mogadishu Municipality, taking over from Mr. Mohamed Abdi Ujub.
Governor Muungaab expressed confidence in the newly appointed directors and urged them to bring renewed energy and accountability to their respective departments.
“These appointments are part of our broader efforts to improve the effectiveness of local administration and deliver better services to our citizens,” he said.
The reshuffle signals a continued commitment by the Banadir regional leadership to foster good governance and institutional progress in Somalia’s capital.
