Johannesburg – The Somali Ambassador to South Africa, H.E. Mohamed Sheikh Issak, today received prominent Islamic scholar Sheikh Abdirashid Sheikh Ali Sufi at the Somali Embassy in Pretoria during a courtesy visit.

Ambassador Issak expressed his heartfelt appreciation for the Sheikh’s visit, acknowledging the long journey he undertook to meet with the Ambassador, embassy staff, and Somali diplomats. The ambassador commended Sheikh Sufi’s commitment and dedication to the Somali community in South Africa, noting the importance of religious leaders engaging with the diaspora.
Sheikh Abdirashid Sheikh Ali Sufi, one of the most respected and well-known Somali scholars, specializes in Qur’anic sciences and Islamic education. He is currently visiting South Africa, where he has been actively participating in community events. Notably, he was among the distinguished scholars who attended the recent Qur’an Recitation Competition held in Cape Town.
During his stay, Sheikh Sufi is expected to hold lectures and community engagements with Somali residents in Johannesburg and other cities, focusing on religious education and spiritual guidance.
His visit marks a significant moment of unity and cultural exchange within the Somali diaspora in South Africa.
Sheikh Sufi is based in Doha. He is a preacher dedicated to spreading the message of Islam.
