Bosaso – In a sudden development, Puntland authorities have released the vessel Sea World, which they had recently seized off the Somali coast. The release comes shortly after the arrival of the Turkish Ambassador to Somalia in the port city of Bosaso earlier today.
Ambassador Alper Aktaş along Turkish senior military officers reportedly held a high-level meeting with Puntland President Said Abdullahi Deni. Although details of the discussion remain confidential, sources close to the presidency suggest that the release of the vessel was among the key issues raised during the diplomatic visit.
The vessel Sea World, whose seizure triggered diplomatic concerns, is now en route to the main port in Mogadishu.
The ship’s original mission, ownership, and cargo have not been publicly disclosed, but sources indicate it was detained due to a maritime dispute or alleged violations in Puntland’s territorial waters.
The Turkish embassy in Mogadishu has not yet released an official statement, but the move is widely seen as a gesture aimed at preserving diplomatic ties and easing tensions between Puntland authorities and Somalia’s federal partners.
Further updates are expected as the ship reaches Mogadishu and federal authorities issue a response.
