Kismayo – The President of Jubaland State, Ahmed Mohamed Islam (commonly known as Ahmed Madobe), hosted the African Union’s Special Representative for Somalia, Ambassador El Hadji Ibrahima Diene, at the State House today.
The ambassador was accompanied by a high-level delegation from the AUSSOM, the African Union Support and Stabilization Mission in Somalia, is a peacekeeping mission during their official visit to Jubaland.
The talks focused on Somalia’s broader political landscape, security challenges, and the ongoing fight against terrorism, with special emphasis on regional stabilization and counter-insurgency operations.
During the meeting, the AU envoy praised the Jubaland administration’s self-reliant efforts to liberate and stabilize various areas within the state.
Ambassador Diene commended the performance and commitment of Jubaland’s security forces, highlighting their significant role in promoting peace and security in Somalia.
The AU envoy also reiterated the African Union’s continued support for Somalia’s state-building and peacekeeping processes, emphasizing the importance of strong cooperation between Somali regional states and international partners in the fight against extremist groups.
