CAIRO – Somalia reaffirmed its commitment to collective Arab positions on regional and international issues during the 164th session of the Council of Arab League Foreign Ministers, held this week in Cairo.

The country was represented by Ambassador Ali Abdi Aware, Somalia’s envoy to Egypt and Permanent Representative to the Arab League, who attended on behalf of Foreign Minister H.E. Abdisalam Abdi Ali.

In his address, Ambassador Aware presented Somalia’s stance on matters of common concern to Arab states. He emphasized the importance of Arab unity and reiterated Somalia’s steadfast solidarity with the Palestinian cause, which remained at the forefront of the discussions.

The ministerial council reviewed pressing political, security, and economic challenges facing the Arab world, with particular focus on the escalating crisis in Palestine. Somalia stressed the need for stronger cooperation among Arab nations to address regional crises and advance peace and stability.

The Council of Foreign Ministers of the Arab League meets regularly to coordinate joint action, adopt unified positions, and prepare for upcoming Arab Summits. Somalia’s participation in the latest session reflects its growing engagement in regional diplomacy despite ongoing domestic challenges in Arab countries.
