Riyadh: The Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) has issued a strong statement condemning Iran’s recent missile attack on the Al Udeid Air Base in Qatar, which hosts United States forces. The regional bloc described the strike as a “dangerous escalation” and a clear violation of the United Nations Charter and the principles of good neighborly relations.
“This act, regardless of any justification, represents a threat to regional stability and a breach of international law,” the GCC said in a joint communiqué released after an emergency ministerial meeting.
At the same time, the GCC renewed its appeal for an immediate end to Israel’s ongoing military campaign in Gaza, highlighting what it called the “continued killing of civilians and obstruction of humanitarian aid.” The Council accused Israel of blocking international organizations from delivering life-saving assistance to Palestinians in the besieged enclave.
“The Council calls for an urgent ceasefire in Gaza to allow humanitarian access and protect innocent lives,” the statement added.
The GCC also praised the diplomatic efforts of U.S. President Donald Trump for helping to broker a temporary ceasefire between Iran and Israel, urging Washington to build on that momentum.
“The Council lauds the success of President Trump in securing a ceasefire between Iran and Israel and encourages His Excellency to intensify diplomatic efforts to achieve a lasting ceasefire in Gaza,” the statement concluded.
The six-member GCC — comprising Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Kuwait, Oman, Bahrain, and Qatar — has long called for a two-state solution to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict and remains a key player in regional peace initiatives.
