MOGADISHU, (HAN) — A new school for the visually impaired has opened in Mogadishu, marking a milestone in expanding educational opportunities for blind students in Somalia.

The Al Basiir School for the Blind was inaugurated with a ceremony that included speeches from community leaders and educators, as well as an award presentation for students who excelled in their recent exams.
Principal Ismail Ahmed Ali addressed the gathering, along with the head of the school, Ms. Isma’il, and other speakers who emphasized the importance of inclusive education. They highlighted the school’s role in empowering students with visual impairments to realize their potential and actively contribute to society.
Students who achieved top results in their exams were recognized with prizes, celebrating their hard work and dedication.
The opening of Al Basiir School represents a major step toward building a more inclusive education system and securing a brighter future for children with disabilities in Somalia.
