ELDHER, (HAN) — Somali National Army (SNA) officers on Saturday showcased weapons and two captured Al-Shabaab fighters in ELDHER, Galgaduud region, following Friday’s battle with the militant group.

The prisoners, presented to the media with their hands tied, were promised humane treatment before being transferred to the Military Court.

Senior commanders, including Colonel Mohamed Dhagaweyne of the 21st Division and Gorgor Commando Unit leader Saahid Jaamac Faarax Jareere, attended the display of captured fighters and seized weapons.

During the event, an SNA soldier was awarded cash for stopping an explosives-laden vehicle the militants had planned to use to storm ELDHER.

The Friday attack marked the largest assault on ELDHER since the town was liberated from Al-Shabaab terrorists in 2022.
