DOHA, (HAN) – Somali President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud, who is attending the Arab and Islamic Summit in Doha, Qatar, held a high-level bilateral meeting with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan on the sidelines of the summit.

During the talks, the two leaders exchanged views on the latest political and security developments in the Middle East, with a particular focus on regional stability and cooperation. Both presidents reaffirmed their commitment to enhancing the long-standing partnership between Somalia and Turkey, which has grown significantly in recent years across areas such as security, infrastructure, education, and humanitarian support.

President Mohamud praised Turkey’s consistent support for Somalia, especially in development and reconstruction efforts, while President Erdogan reiterated his country’s readiness to continue standing alongside Somalia in its state-building and stabilization journey.

The meeting also highlighted the importance of joint efforts to strengthen diplomatic, economic, and cultural ties, with both sides agreeing to further deepen cooperation in ways that benefit the peoples of both nations.
