NEW YORK, (HAN) – The President of the Federal Republic of Somalia, H.E. Dr. Hassan Sheikh Mohamud, held a bilateral meeting with the Crown Prince of the State of Kuwait, Sheikh Sabah Khalid Al-Hamad Al-Sabah, on the sidelines of the 80th Session of the United Nations General Assembly.

During the meeting, the two leaders discussed ways to further strengthen the historic ties of brotherhood and cooperation between Somalia and Kuwait. They exchanged views on enhancing bilateral relations in key areas of mutual interest, including political, economic, and development cooperation.

The talks also touched on regional issues of shared concern, with both leaders emphasizing the importance of solidarity and collaboration in promoting peace, stability, and prosperity across the Horn of Africa and the wider Gulf region.

President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud expressed appreciation for Kuwait’s longstanding support to Somalia in humanitarian, development, and diplomatic arenas. In turn, the Kuwaiti Crown Prince reaffirmed his country’s commitment to deepening its partnership with Somalia and supporting the Somali government’s efforts toward peacebuilding, good governance, and national development.

The meeting underscored the shared vision of both nations to strengthen cooperation and contribute jointly to regional stability and international dialogue.
