MOGADISHU, (HA) — The Council of Ministers of the Federal Government of Somalia on Thursday approved three memoranda of understanding (MoUs) related to education and research during its weekly meeting in Mogadishu.
The agreements, submitted by the Ministry of Education, Culture, and Higher Education, were signed between Somalia, Uganda, Qatar, and Algeria.
According to the government statement, the MoUs include an education cooperation agreement between Somalia and Uganda, a higher education agreement between Somalia and Qatar, and a research and higher education cooperation agreement between Somalia and Algeria.
Thursday’s cabinet meeting was chaired by Deputy Prime Minister Jibril Abdirashid Haji Abdi. The ministers also received briefings from the Ministries of Internal Security and Defense on the overall security situation and ongoing military operations against the Al-Shabaab militant group.
The cabinet praised the latest achievements of Somali forces in their operations against Al-Shabaab, noting that the advances are part of the government’s broader plan to restore peace and liberate areas still under militant control.
