MOGADISHU, (HAN) — Somali National Army (SNA) forces conducted a well-coordinated operation in the Macalinka Kunteenarka and Balad/Amin areas of Lower Shabelle, targeting Al-Shabaab hideouts, officials confirmed.

Military sources reported that the operation successfully dismantled several militant bases used to harass local communities, disrupting the group’s operations in the region. SNA troops displayed high levels of discipline, bravery, and vigilance during the mission, according to the sources.

Colonel Dhala Dheere, commander of the 252nd Brigade, stated that the primary goal of the operation was to eliminate enemy strongholds entirely.

“The SNA forces have succeeded in dismantling key militant facilities,” Col. Dheere said. “This is part of a broader, ongoing campaign to remove Al-Shabaab elements from Lower Shabelle and ensure the safety of local populations.”

Recent military efforts in the region have shown measurable progress. SNA forces have intensified operations to secure towns and villages, targeting insurgent hideouts, supply routes, and recruitment networks. Local authorities and community leaders have reported a noticeable decrease in attacks on civilians following the recent offensives.

Security officials emphasized that continued operations will focus not only on eliminating militants but also on restoring public confidence, protecting communities, and supporting local governance structures disrupted by years of insurgency.

The campaign reflects Somalia’s broader commitment to stabilizing Lower Shabelle and weakening Al-Shabaab’s foothold, while providing residents with a safer environment for daily life and economic activities.
