DOHA, (HAN) – The Minister of Family Affairs and Human Rights of the Federal Government of Somalia, Hon. Khadija Mohamed Al-Makhzoumi, held an official meeting with her Qatari counterpart, H.E. Buthaina bint Ali Al Jabr Al Nuaimi, the Minister of Family Affairs of the State of Qatar.

The meeting, which took place in Doha, focused on enhancing bilateral cooperation between the two nations, particularly in areas concerning family development, child welfare, and women’s empowerment.

During the discussions, Minister Al-Makhzoumi highlighted the significant progress made by the Somali government, especially within her ministry, in promoting social welfare and protecting vulnerable groups. She also shared lessons learned and experiences that could serve as models for mutual learning between the two ministries.

Minister Buthaina Al Nuaimi, on her part, briefed the Somali delegation on Qatar’s efforts in delivering family and social services, the structure of her ministry’s affiliated institutions, and the country’s advancements in community development.

Both ministers agreed to strengthen institutional collaboration through knowledge exchange, capacity building, and the development of a formal memorandum of understanding (MoU) to deepen partnership in the coming months.

Minister Al-Makhzoumi expressed her sincere gratitude to her Qatari counterpart for the warm hospitality extended to her and her delegation, and praised Qatar’s commitment to fostering cooperation with Somalia in areas that directly impact family welfare and social progress.

The meeting marks a new step toward consolidating the historic friendship between Somalia and Qatar, as both countries reaffirm their shared commitment to advancing human development and protecting the rights of families, women, and children.
