Aadan Yabaal — Forces from Somalia’s National Intelligence and Security Agency (NISA), in coordination with international partners, recently carried out a planned operation in the Howlwadaag neighborhood of Aadan Yabaal district, Middle Shabelle region.

The operation specifically targeted a house suspected of being used by Al-Shabaab as a central base for meetings of their senior leaders, where an important gathering was believed to be taking place.

During the operation, a large fire broke out at the site, and a powerful explosion shook the entire district, indicating that the house was being used to store weapons and explosives.

Security officials confirmed that the operation had been carefully planned, with the aim of striking Al-Shabaab’s senior leadership.

Although official details about casualties have not yet been released, government officials emphasized that this action is part of ongoing efforts to combat terrorism, particularly against Al-Shabaab, which has repeatedly tried to use Aadan Yabaal as a staging ground for attacks against civilians and security forces.

The operation comes at a time when the Federal Government of Somalia has announced the start of the second phase of its offensive against Al-Shabaab radicals, pledging that these groups will not be allowed to regain control of areas previously liberated.
