ANKARA — Turkish authorities have arrested more than 100 people suspected of being members of the Islamic State (ISIS) who were reportedly planning attacks targeting Christmas and New Year celebrations, officials said Thursday.

The Istanbul Prosecutor’s Office said police obtained intelligence indicating that the planned attacks specifically aimed to target non-Muslim residents and public gatherings. Authorities launched coordinated operations across more than 120 locations in Istanbul, resulting in the detention of 115 individuals suspected of involvement.

Officials said the raids were part of ongoing counterterrorism efforts to prevent potential attacks during the holiday season, highlighting Turkey’s heightened vigilance amid rising security concerns.
