ELBUH, HAN) — An unidentified airstrike in the Sanaag region has killed a respected local elder, Omar Abdullahi Abdi according to local sources.

Witnesses said the strike hit Elbuh town, instantly killing the elder. No additional casualties were reported.

The victim’s brother, ali Abdullahi Abdi, told reporters that only his sibling’s remains were found at the site, stating that no one else was with him during the attack. He called on the Puntland administration to launch an immediate investigation.

The incident has raised concern among residents, who urged authorities to safeguard civilians and determine responsibility for the strike.

While U.S. and Emirati warplanes involved in Puntland’s counter-ISIS operations frequently patrol the area, it remains unclear which party carried out the attack.
