Moqokori — High-level meetings are currently underway in Moqokori district between officials from the Hiiraan regional administration and senior officers of the Somali Federal Government forces. These discussions are focused on strengthening the fight against the Al-Shabaab group.
The meetings are being led by the Governor of Hiiraan province, Muse Salad Wehliye, accompanied by senior officers from the national armed forces, particularly the military and the National Intelligence and Security Agency (NISA).

Also participating are former officials, including the former Governor of Hiiraan, Abdifitah Hassan Afrah, and the former District Commissioner of Maxaas.
The objective of these meetings is to double the military operations against Al-Shabaab, especially to accelerate the plan to liberate areas where the group has recently launched activities that have instilled fear among local residents.
The officials have also held separate consultations with leaders of the local militia, known as Macawiisley, who play a significant role in the fight against Al-Shabaab.

The discussions have covered the urgent needs of the local forces, ways to enhance cooperation among security agencies, and strategies for achieving sustainable and decisive victories.

These meetings come at a time when Al-Shabaab has recently begun military movements in areas under Moqokori district, creating a new security situation and highlighting the need to strengthen local defenses.

The meetings are expected to lead to new, effective plans aimed at combating Al-Shabaab elements still present in parts of Hiiraan region, particularly around Moqokori.
