The forum focused on how Arab states can leverage e-governance tools to improve public trust and combat corruption, which remains a major challenge across the region.

In his address, Auditor General Guutaale showcased Somalia’s progress in modernizing its accountability systems, noting that the Office of the Auditor General has introduced digital auditing and financial tracking platforms aimed at ensuring greater efficiency and oversight in public spending.

“Digital transformation is one of the most effective tools for preventing corruption and ensuring transparency,” Guutaale stated. “Somalia is determined to continue its reforms to strengthen institutions, promote good governance, and enhance cooperation with regional partners.”

He also called on Arab nations to share best practices and foster stronger institutional partnerships through peer-to-peer learning and joint anti-corruption initiatives.

Context: Over the past few years, Somalia has taken steps to improve its governance systems, including adopting public finance management reforms, publishing regular audit reports, and engaging in international anti-corruption frameworks.
