Istanbul: The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Azerbaijan, Jeyhun Bayramov, today held a meeting with the Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of the Federal Republic of Somalia, Mr. Abdisalam Abdi Ali.

The meeting took place in Istanbul on the sidelines of the 51st Session of the Council of Foreign Ministers of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC).

The discussions focused on strengthening bilateral and multilateral cooperation, enhancing diplomatic ties, identifying future steps, and reviewing the current regional situation.

Both ministers welcomed the progress made in political relations between Somalia and Azerbaijan and emphasized the importance of accelerating political dialogue, boosting economic and trade relations, and enhancing cooperation in sectors such as agriculture, green energy, humanitarian aid, and education.

Minister Bayramov particularly praised Somalia’s active role in international platforms such as the OIC, the Non-Aligned Movement, and the United Nations. He highlighted the importance of mutual support in reinforcing unity within the Islamic world.

The meeting also acknowledged Somalia’s participation in development and humanitarian projects carried out by Azerbaijan, including educational scholarships.

Somalia’s interest in benefiting from Azerbaijan’s public service system, “ASAN Khidmet,” was positively noted.

The meeting concluded with an exchange of views on other shared interests.
