Bosaso, (Horn Africa News) — At least two Puntland soldiers were killed and eight others injured on Sunday when a roadside bomb struck a military convoy in the Bari region of Somalia.

The attack occurred on the road between Turmasaale and Afka Curaar in the Balidhidin district, when an explosive device detonated as the convoy was passing through. Eyewitnesses reported that one of the vehicles was directly hit by the blast.

The wounded soldiers were transported to nearby medical facilities, where they are receiving treatment.

So far, no group has claimed responsibility for the attack. However, similar incidents in the region have frequently been attributed to militant groups active in Bari.

The Bari region has seen repeated clashes between Puntland security forces and ISIS-linked militants, particularly in the mountainous areas where extremists maintain hideouts.

In a related development, Abdirabbi Nur, Director General of the Puntland Maritime Police Force (PMPF), visited frontline positions held by Puntland forces in the Cal-Miskaad mountains.

Director Nur inspected PMPF’s 1st Battalion bases in Baallade and Miiraale, where he met with officers, deputy commanders, and troops. He commended their efforts and highlighted the significant achievements made under Operation Hilaac, a military campaign aimed at defending Puntland’s faith, people, and territory against terrorist threats.

Horn Africa News will continue to follow this story and provide updates as more information emerges.
