GEDO, (HAN) – Intense fighting has erupted between communities in the Luuq District of Somalia’s Gedo region and the surrounding Yurkud area, resulting in multiple fatalities and numerous injuries. The conflict reportedly involves members of the Reer Hassan Marihan and Rahanweyn clans.
Preliminary reports from local sources indicate that the clashes have intensified over the past several days, causing significant casualties and forcing many residents to flee their homes. Although the exact number of those killed or injured remains unconfirmed, witnesses describe widespread destruction and heightened fear across the affected communities.
Local elders and authorities are being urgently called upon to intervene to prevent further escalation of violence. Community leaders have appealed for calm and urged both sides to engage in dialogue and pursue reconciliation efforts to restore peace.
