DJIBOUTI – Egypt and Djibouti have announced a new economic and energy partnership that includes the development and expansion of Doraleh Port on the Red Sea, according to informed sources.

The two countries will cooperate on operating and upgrading the port, which plays a strategic role in regional trade and connectivity.
Egypt will also support Djibouti in constructing a 90-kilometer road linking Djibouti with Ethiopia, aimed at boosting cross-border trade and transport.
Officials from both nations said the projects are part of Djibouti’s broader effort to strengthen its position as a hub for ports and infrastructure in the Horn of Africa.
The announcement follows President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi’s visit to Djibouti earlier this year, where both sides signed agreements on cooperation in infrastructure, trade, and energy.
Egypt is seeking to expand its influence in the Horn of Africa by driving economic growth and tapping into regional markets.
