CAIRO — Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi on Tuesday strongly rejected any attempts to divide countries in the Middle East or undermine the ceasefire agreement in the Gaza Strip, stressing Egypt’s firm commitment to regional unity and stability.
Speaking during a meeting with senior officials and diplomats, el-Sisi said Egypt would not accept policies or actions that threaten the territorial integrity of regional states or weaken ongoing efforts to de-escalate violence in Gaza. The Egyptian presidency said preserving regional unity remains a central pillar of Cairo’s foreign policy.
El-Sisi described the Gaza ceasefire as a critical step toward reducing violence and enabling the delivery of urgently needed humanitarian aid to civilians, particularly women and children. He warned that efforts to derail the agreement would risk further destabilizing the region.
Egypt has played a key mediating role, alongside Qatar and the United States, in negotiations aimed at halting hostilities between Israel and Hamas, facilitating prisoner exchanges, and ensuring the flow of humanitarian assistance through the Rafah border crossing.
The president reiterated Egypt’s rejection of any forced displacement of Palestinians and stressed that a lasting solution to the conflict must be achieved through political dialogue and respect for international law.
