MOGADISHU – A high-level delegation of senior Egyptian military officers has wrapped up an official visit to Somalia, marking the end of a series of assessment meetings and field inspections aimed at strengthening defense and security cooperation between the two nations.

During the visit, the Egyptian officers held extensive discussions with Somali military commanders and defense officials, focusing on the condition of military bases, ongoing security operations, and the challenges facing Somalia’s armed forces. The delegation gathered detailed reports to better understand the country’s security needs and the realities on the ground.
The head of AUSSOM, an international body that supports security operations and facilitates global cooperation in Somalia, pledged to assist Egypt’s military in integrating with Somali forces and easing joint operational efforts. He emphasized that the initiative is part of broader international support to Somalia’s federal government and armed forces in their fight against militant groups threatening national stability.
Egypt has consistently demonstrated its support for Somalia over the years, pledging military training, equipment supplies, and the sharing of security expertise. Analysts view the latest visit as a significant step in consolidating bilateral ties and enhancing regional security cooperation.
Security experts argue that Somalia, currently navigating a fragile security landscape, stands to benefit greatly from Egypt’s involvement. Given Cairo’s extensive military experience, its backing is expected to bolster Somalia’s ongoing efforts to restore stability and rebuild its defense capacity.
