Beled-Hawo – Heavy fighting broke out again early this morning in Tuulo Aamin, a settlement on the outskirts of Beled-Hawo town, after Somali Federal Government forces launched a planned attack on Jubbaland forces stationed in the area.

Witnesses reported that both sides used heavy and light weaponry, with the sound of artillery and intense gunfire echoing across Tuulo Aamin and its surroundings.

Residents began fleeing their homes in fear that the clashes could spread to nearby villages.

Local sources say Jubbaland forces had been conducting military movements in the area in recent days, raising tensions before today’s assault.

As of now, no official figures have been released on casualties from either side, and both the Somali Federal Government and the Jubbaland administration have yet to issue formal statements on the fighting, but preliminary reports indicate that Hussein Giif died from injuries sustained in the fighting.

Hussein was the former police commander of Gedo region, but the government removed him from the position and replaced him with Adan Dhaforey. Afterwards, he led the faction aligned with Ahmed Madobe.

Beled-Hawo and its surrounding areas have witnessed repeated armed confrontations in recent years, driven by a mix of political disputes and security rivalries between the Federal Government and Jubbaland authorities.
