MOGADISHU — The Somalia Civil Aviation Authority (SCAA) has issued a stern warning to the airline Flydubai after it was discovered that passengers recently flown to Hargeisa did not hold the mandatory Somali e-visa.

A copy of the official notice obtained by Rakaal TV states that the authority considers the incident a violation of Somalia’s aviation and travel regulations, and a direct threat to national border security and safety procedures.

The SCAA has instructed that all passengers traveling to Hargeisa must obtain a Somali e-visa prior to boarding any flight. The notice emphasizes that this directive must be implemented immediately.

The authority also warned that Flydubai could face financial penalties if it fails to comply. Additionally, SCAA has stated it may review the airline’s operating license in Somalia and could suspend flights if the airline does not adhere to the e-visa requirement.

The warning comes as Somalia intensifies efforts to strengthen border security and enforce travel regulations, particularly for international airlines operating in the country. Flydubai is one of the largest carriers serving the region, making compliance with national e-visa rules a critical issue.

Somalia’s move highlights the government’s ongoing efforts to ensure that aviation operations align with legal and security standards, and to prevent violations that could compromise the safety of passengers and national borders.
