Beled-Hawo – The Jubbaland regional forces have encountered a fresh setback in Beled-Hawo town following internal divisions among troops stationed at BP1, near Mandera. Preliminary reports indicate deepening disagreements among officials, resulting in two competing proposals regarding the future positioning of the forces.

One faction advocated relocating to the Malkariyey area to establish a permanent base and consolidate power before advancing further. Meanwhile, another group pushed for a move to Doolow, specifically to the military camp known as “Kabaso.”

Ultimately, the proposal to move to Doolow garnered broader support. Coordination efforts began with authorities in Lafey to facilitate the deployment to Kabaso. However, the Lafey administration rejected the request, reportedly citing concerns about potential instability and growing suspicion over Jubbaland leader Ahmed Madobe’s political motives.

In a significant development early this morning, the Kenyan military ordered all tribal militias affiliated with Jubbaland to immediately withdraw from the Mandera border region. The move is seen as part of a broader initiative to prevent further escalation and preserve regional stability along the Somali-Kenyan border.

Unconfirmed reports also suggest that several Jubbaland fighters have surrendered to the Somali Federal Government. A formal presentation of the surrendered troops is expected in the coming days.
