Mogadishu –The Federal Government of Somalia, through the Ministry of Internal Security, has officially announced that it is closely monitoring the ongoing instability in the Gedo region. The ministry attributes the unrest to disruptive elements reportedly acting under the directive of Ahmed Madobe, the President of Jubbaland.

In an official statement, the Ministry revealed that these individuals are allegedly engaged in inciting conflict and spreading misinformation among the local population, in an attempt to conceal their own criminal activities. The statement specifically mentioned Mahmoud Sayid Aden, identifying him as a figure with a known history of involvement in previous security incidents in the region and currently suspected of playing a role in the latest wave of unrest.

The Ministry confirmed that the Somali National Army (SNA), in collaboration with local residents, has launched operations in the region aimed at restoring security and stability, as well as eradicating extremists.

The press release included a direct warning to individuals and groups involved in escalating political tensions and undermining public safety. The government emphasized that these activities are being closely observed and stated that those responsible will be held accountable should they continue actions deemed hostile to the Somali state.
