PUNTLAND — A prominent Puntland politician has criticized the leadership of President Said Abdullahi Deni, warning that mismanagement at the highest levels of government has weakened the region’s overall governance system and left citizens’ needs largely unaddressed.

Guled Salah, speaking to local media on Thursday, said the administration’s shortcomings extend beyond poor decision-making, pointing to what he described as “shortsightedness, lack of empathy, and indifference” toward the social and economic challenges faced by the people of Puntland.
“The mismanagement of President Deni’s government has undermined our governance structures overall, and this is further compounded by a limited vision, a lack of compassion, and failure to address the living conditions and hardships of the general public,” Salah said.
The politician’s remarks reflect growing concerns among Puntland citizens over service delivery, economic development, and the effectiveness of regional leadership. He called on the government to adopt more inclusive policies that prioritize the welfare of the population and strengthen institutional systems.
Political analysts say Salah’s criticism highlights broader frustrations within Puntland regarding governance, transparency, and accountability. Citizens have increasingly voiced discontent over inadequate public services, insufficient infrastructure development, and limited opportunities for economic growth.
Salah’s comments are part of a wider dialogue among local political figures, civil society groups, and community leaders about the need for reform in Puntland’s administration. Regional observers note that the region, despite relative stability compared to southern Somalia, still faces challenges in ensuring effective governance and meeting the basic needs of its population.
