Jalalaqsi: Intense fighting broke out around noon today between the areas of Mabaax and Ceel-Hareeri in the Hiiraan region of central Somalia.

The battle involved joint forces of the Somali National Army (SNA) and local Macawiisleey self-defense fighters, clashing with Al-Shabaab militants.

The conflict erupted after the allied forces launched an offensive targeting areas where Al-Shabaab fighters were reportedly regrouping.

The skirmishes resulted in casualties on both sides, including deaths and injuries, though exact figures remain unconfirmed.

A commander from the Macawiisleey militia told local media that their forces delivered a heavy blow to the Al-Shabaab militants concentrated between Mabaax and Ceel Hareeri.

“The joint forces shot and killed many terrorists who were preparing explosives. We dealt them a serious defeat and cleared the areas where they had gathered. The operation is still ongoing, and we are continuing the pursuit,” the Macawiisleey commander stated.

Today’s clash follows similar confrontations earlier this month in Ceel Hareeri and nearby villages, where Macawiisleey fighters also engaged Al-Shabaab, reportedly inflicting significant losses on the group.
