Hiiraan, Somalia – Local community defense forces in the Hiiraan region, known as “Ma’awisley,” have carried out a well-planned military operation that resulted in the death of six Al-Shabaab militants, according to sources within the forces.

The operation took place in the Dhurwaale area, which falls under the Garasyaani locality in the Halgan district of Hiiraan region.

During the operation, the community forces successfully killed six members of the Al-Shabaab militant group and seized their weapons. One Al-Shabaab member reportedly managed to escape the scene, officials said.

Ma’awisley forces that involved in the operation stated that the mission was executed with precision based on prior intelligence and planning.

“We killed six of the enemy combatants and captured the weapons they were carrying. Only one of them managed to flee the area,” said a commander led in the mission.

This operation marks one of the largest and most strategic offensives conducted by the Ma’awisley fighters in recent months. It is considered the most significant action taken since the recapture of Moqokori, a key location in the region previously held by the militant group.

The successful mission highlights the growing capability and coordination of local defense groups in their fight against Al-Shabaab, who continue to pose a threat to security and stability in central Somalia.

Local residents have praised the operation, calling it a significant step toward reclaiming areas still under militant control and restoring peace in the Hiiraan region.
