The government of Israel has officially agreed to a ceasefire deal proposed by former U.S. President Donald Trump, effectively bringing an end to nearly two weeks of heavy fighting in the Middle East.
In a statement released by the office of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, the government confirmed that it had approved the ceasefire terms, describing the military campaign as a success.
“Israel has achieved its objective of eliminating the threat posed by Iran’s nuclear and missile capabilities,” the statement read. “We have agreed to the ceasefire initiative proposed by President Trump.”
The 12-day conflict resulted in numerous Israeli casualties and caused widespread destruction in many cities under Israeli control.
Although the full details of the agreement have not yet been disclosed, diplomatic sources indicate that the deal includes a halt to hostilities and a renewed international effort to monitor Iran’s nuclear programs.
Meanwhile, humanitarian organizations have called on the international community to provide immediate assistance to civilians affected by the conflict, warning that the humanitarian situation could worsen if aid is not delivered swiftly.
Though the ceasefire remains fragile, it is being hailed as a major diplomatic breakthrough in a region long plagued by war and instability.
