Kisumu – A tragic road accident has claimed the lives of 25 people in western Kenya after a bus carrying mourners from a funeral veered off the road and overturned, authorities confirmed.
According to a police report seen by the BBC, the crash occurred Friday afternoon along the Kisumu–Kakamega Highway, a stretch notorious for frequent fatal accidents. The driver reportedly lost control, sending the vehicle into a ditch.
Police said 10 women, 10 men, and one girl died at the scene. Twenty others sustained injuries, five critically. Four of the injured later died in hospital.
Officials revealed that the victims were returning from a burial and are believed to be members of the same extended family.
