MOGADISHU (HAN) – The King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center, in collaboration with the Somali-based Maxaasin Foundation distributed food aid in the form of dates to vulnerable families living in the Dayniile and Garasbaaleey districts of Banadir region.

According to officials, a total of 8,000 families benefited from the program—with 4,000 households receiving assistance in Dayniile district and another 4,000 in Garasbaaleey. The initiative is part of ongoing humanitarian projects aimed at supporting low-income communities across Somalia.

A launching ceremony for the aid distribution was held in Mogadishu on Monday, attended by senior representatives from both the King Salman Relief Authority and the Maxaasin Foundation. The first phase of the operation officially began today in the two districts, where aid packages were handed over directly to families in need.

Some of the beneficiaries expressed gratitude for the timely support, saying the assistance arrived at a moment of serious economic hardship. “This donation came at a critical time for us. We thank both King Salman Relief and Maxaasin Foundation for standing with the poor,” said one recipient in Dayniile.

Naibiib, a senior official from Maxaasin Foundation, told reporters that the initiative was carefully organized to ensure that the aid reached the most vulnerable groups. He emphasized that both organizations remain committed to addressing food insecurity and supporting underprivileged families in Somalia.

The King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center has been active in Somalia for several years, implementing projects in food security, health, education, and emergency relief.
