Mogadishu: Dr. Mohamed Adan Koofi, Secretary-General of the Somali Salvation Forum, has accused the Federal Government of orchestrating a targeted campaign against members of the political opposition.
In a press statement, Dr. Koofi revealed that officers—allegedly from the Banadir Regional Police—unlawfully entered his residence in Mogadishu and ordered him to vacate the premises.
“Yesterday, at around 4:00 PM, a group of officers claiming to be from the regional authority arrived at my home in an unlawful and provocative manner, demanding that I leave the area,” he said.
Dr. Koofi noted that he responded respectfully and in accordance with legal and security protocols, asking the officers to present proper legal documentation or refer the matter to their superiors.
“I had already been receiving warning messages suggesting a plan to target members of the Somali Salvation Forum and other opposition figures who hold differing views from those in power,” he said.
As of now, the Federal Government of Somalia has not responded to Dr. Koofi’s accusations of plotting an offensive against political opponents.
