Mogadishu – The Governor of Banaadir Region and Mayor of Mogadishu, Dr. Hassan Mohamed Hussein (Muungaab), met with the Arab League Ambassador to Somalia, Mr. Abdullahi Al-Utaibi, during a courtesy visit held at Mogadishu City Hall.

Mayor Muungaab welcomed the envoy and shared updates on the city’s ongoing reconstruction efforts, highlighting key initiatives such as road and drainage rehabilitation, urban beautification, and improvements in public services including education and healthcare.
The mayor commended the Arab League for its continued solidarity with the Somali people through years of hardship and called for deeper cooperation. He underscored the importance of reinforcing the historic partnership between Somalia and the Arab League, especially as the country works toward recovery and stability.
Ambassador Al-Utaibi thanked Mayor Muungaab for the warm reception and reiterated the Arab League’s support for Somalia. He emphasized the League’s commitment to boosting education, youth empowerment, and the promotion of the Arabic language, as well as contributing to Somalia’s state-building and self-sufficiency goals.
The meeting reaffirmed the strong collaboration between the Mogadishu municipal government and the Arab League, with both parties pledging to enhance cooperation in the pursuit of sustainable development and regional integration.
