MOGADISHU, (HAN) — The Ministry of Security of Somalia’s Northeastern Federal State has issued a strong warning against what it described as Somaliland’s mobilization for war, calling the move a “serious threat” to stability and peace in the Horn of Africa.

In a press release, the Northeastern administration accused Somaliland of preparing an offensive against local communities “who seek peace,” stressing that such actions would not be tolerated.

The statement affirmed that regional authorities are ready to defend their people and protect the dignity of their territory, vowing not to permit any violation of their borders.

The administration also urged the Federal Government of Somalia, the United Nations, the African Union, IGAD, and the wider international community to condemn Somaliland’s alleged plans and take swift, concrete measures to prevent destabilization.

Concluding its statement, the Northeastern leadership reiterated its commitment to peaceful coexistence and neighborly relations, while making clear that any aggression or external interference would be firmly resisted.
